– Mr. Colón-Serrano completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus. Subsequently, he studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PUCPR), School of Law, where he graduated. During his third year at the PUCPR, Mr. Colon-Serrano clerked at the Federal Public Defender’s office for the District of Puerto Rico, where he conducted legal research on a wide array of topics, drafted legal memoranda and appeared before the U.S. District Court representing indigent criminal defendants under the tutelage of Assistant Federal Public Defenders.

Mr. Colón-Serrano served as legal advisor to the Superintendent of the Capitol of Puerto Rico, where he reviewed and drafted grant proposals, contracts and provided general legal counsel to such office from September 2010. He was also a legal advisor to the Urbanism and Infrastructure Committee of the Senate of Puerto Rico, where he drafted and evaluated bills, committee reports, rendered opinions and provided counsel as to diverse legal matters. Recently he served in the transition committee for the Employee Retirement System of the Government of Puerto Rico in representation of the incoming administration of Governor Ricardo Roselló.

Prior to joining Colon Saez Zambrana, LLC, Mr. Colon-Serrano was a partner of Colón-Miró & Colón-Serrano, LLC, and in charge of all the areas of general litigation of the firm, including libel and slander cases, domestic relations, administrative and criminal law, and represented private and public clients before the federal and state courts in Puerto Rico. Mr. Colón-Serrano also has trial experience in general torts litigation.

Besides litigation work, he has also provided legal counsel to public performance producers. For example, he served as legal counsel to the organizers of large scale sport events, such as La Roja en Puerto Rico event, where the Spanish National Soccer team visited Puerto Rico for a friendly match with our local soccer team in August 2012, Rafa Nadal en Puerto Rico, where tennis superstar Rafael Nadal played a friendly match in Puerto Rico’s Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, as well as others.

Mr. Colón-Serrano is also licensed notary public for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
